Pathways to Freedom

To honor the legacy of those who risked everything for freedom, I created a mixed-media animated film that reimagines the escape stories of enslaved people along the Underground Railroad. Guided by the voice of John Legend, the piece weaves hand-drawn animation, archival textures, and abstract motion design into a visual language that feels both historic and alive.

Each sequence shifts in tone and style. Some are gritty and raw, and others are dreamlike, mirroring the emotional weight and unpredictability of the journeys. The result is more than a history lesson; it’s a sensory narrative that invites viewers to feel the urgency, fear, and hope that defined each step toward liberation.
